Since 1960, White Star has been providing the highest quality dry cleaning and laundry services to the Chattanooga area. Founded by Ralph and Joan Whitmire, Jr., the family owned and operated business has provided table and bed linens to Chattanooga area restaurants and hotels in addition to its dry cleaning services. These dry cleaning services have operated under the names White Star, One Hour Martinizing, and Big Ridge Cleaners.

The White Star Linens division of the business was sold in 1989 and the Whitmires turned their full-time focus to the dry cleaning and laundry industry. The 3 dry cleaning and laundry locations have been operating under the names Big Ridge Cleaners, Mountain City Cleaners, and Carriage Cleaners. Now, the locations will all be known as White Star Cleaners. While the name may be changing, the outstanding service remains the same.
