Family-Owned Dry Cleaning Business Since 1960

Since 1960, White Star Dry Cleaners has provided professional dry cleaning and laundry services to the Chattanooga area. Founded by Ralph and Joan Whitmire, Jr., the family owned and operated business also provided table and bed linens to Chattanooga area restaurants and hotels in addition to its dry cleaning services. The company’s dry cleaning services operated under the names White Star, One Hour Martinizing, and Big Ridge Cleaners.

In 1989, the White Star Linens division of the business was sold, and the Whitmires turned their full time focus to the dry cleaning and laundry industry. Following that transition, the three dry cleaning and laundry locations operated under the names Big Ridge Cleaners, Mountain City Cleaners, and Carriage Cleaners.

Today, all locations operate under one unified name: White Star Dry Cleaners. While the name has been updated, the standards, experience, and commitment to quality developed over decades remain unchanged.

White Star Dry Cleaners proudly serves customers in the Hixson, Downtown Chattanooga, and Signal Mountain areas. We offer a full range of professional dry cleaning and laundry services, along with convenient pick up and delivery for home and office customers.

When you are looking for a dry cleaning and laundry service that treats your clothing with care and consistency, White Star Dry Cleaners is here to help. Our focus remains on dependable service, professional garment care, and long term customer relationships built over generations.
